Chief Inspector Johannes Fischer has since retired, and the last case he investigated with his former boss Konstanze Satorius has been closed, but Fischer is still convinced that an innocent woman is in custody. Liane Sievers was convicted of manslaughter based on circumstantial evidence. And when the murder weapon from the old case is now found in a burglar's warehouse with a new suspect’s fingerprints, Satorius persuades her former colleague to reopen the case.​
