In 1477 Charles the Bold dies, his only child is a girl who cannot rule without a husband. Meanwhile in Austria, Emperor Frederick III and his antagonist Louis XI of France fight over marriage prospects, battles ensue, tragedy falls.
Another Weber – Prochaska collaboration, this score continues and even refines their combination of intricate drones and pulses with bold, epic musical statements.
Brass and strings were recorded with the Macedonian Symphony in Skopje, the featured Soprano is Weber’s niece Helena Bickel, a rising star on the German opera horizon.
